The Board of Directors of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL) has recently made the decision to discontinue operations as of May 1, 2019. The league is being shut down due to lack of funding.
Do you believe it is important to have a Women's hockey league in Canada?

I definitely think it is important to have a women`s hockey team to show that women can also do the sport. To save the team they should definitely protest or do a fundraiser to raise money for the team. They should definitely split the funding for the men and women's hockey teams because it would not be fair to the women's team if the men`s team got the majority of the money, and it would not be fair to the men`s team if the women's team got all the money.

Deletei do think its important to have men and women hockey teams because first of all its not fair because some girls have been playing hockey all their life and once you get to a high level they say that they can't anymore and just don't have the money? To me that makes no sense whatsoever. they can do more funding activities. For my team we usually bag at walmart, host tournaments, car wash and things like that and since it helps my team i think it would help theirs as well.i do think the money should be split because its really not fair to give money to the men and not the women.
ReplyDeleteI find that the women’s hockey league because there is not many sports that is just a girl team its mainly just mixed or just boys so i find its good to continue it. The league could have made a charity to raise some money. I think that the two teams should split it because if they did the womens league would be able to be continued instead of being stopped.
ReplyDeleteI THINK IT not the money the problem I think the mens hockey league have more fans because there is more players and sponsor and they have very good arena and a-lot of different teams and the nhl has a lot of broadcaster for the games.

I think we should split the funding evenly between the women’s hockey league and the men’s hockey league, that way both leagues could be going on.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I find that it is very important to have a women's hockey league. The reason for this is because Canada is a hockey country and if we only have the montreal Canadiens not only is it sexest but it doesn't show other people about how much everyone loves our sport. The way to save the league would be to start protesting against the people who made the decision and start to start fundraisers for the league. I feel like it should be separated the funding so that each team has enough money.

I think it is very important to have a women's hockey team in Canada because we are known for hockey and it would be sexest. I don’t think founding should be equally split between both sport teams because the men’s is a lot bigger. They can split it realistically so that both leagues won’t shut down for a stupid reason.

To save the league they could do a fundraiser to have more money. I think that the funding could be split but only if a league really need some money.
ReplyDeleteNo they shouldn't have equal pay because the men's hockey team makes more money that the women's hockey. So it would not be fair to the men's hockey team that the women take half of their money and because they don't attract as many viewers as the men's hockey league. Giving the women's hockey the women's hockey league won't make them have more viewers and I personally didn't even know they had one.

DeleteI dont think that they should take the money from the boys because the boys have a reason to keep the money because there has to be a reason why they stop putting the money to them. I really dont know why whe cant have a girl hockey team. We will just be know as the place that will not have a girl team and every one will think that we are very sexist.

DeleteOf course it’s important, women should be = to men now so it shouldn't be stopping. I can’t believe this is even a problem. Hockey and other sports should be accessible to everyone. There’s a billion of ways to fix this. For example they could just give more money to the women's hockey team, and a little less to the NHL. And of course it should be split evenly, why shouldn't it be. If I could ask someone thats runs the whole Hockey organisations two thing it would be “Why wouldn't you keep funding the women's team, what makes women different or weaker, but the catch you can’t answer it’s because there girls.” I wonder what they would say?
ReplyDeleteI Think it is important to have a wowen's hockey team because it could inspire other girls to play hockey and it would make canada very sexist, but there is way we can save the women's hockey team is by doing a fun raiser since they are having fund issues. I think we should split the men and women's hockey team fund because it could help the women hockey team a lot and could potentially save the team.

DeleteI think it was an ok idea to cancel the women’s hockey league team but good idea since people are more into men’s hockey league tenses because they play in the NFL and the women don’t. Bad idea because women should be able to play on a professional team sexism should not exist
